Place & Memory: Creating from Where We Are

This fall, our Amplify Meetup invites artists and creatives to explore the relationship between place, memory, and creative practice. Through a simple mixed-media mapping activity, participants will create a personal “map” of a place that holds meaning - real, remembered, imagined, or somewhere in between!

Alongside the activity, we'll have a guided conversation around the question: “How does where we come from shape what we create?” Together, we'll explore the places that influence our creative identities, the memories we carry with us, and the ways artists translate a sense of place into their work.

Amplify Meetups are part of a series designed to support, connect, and elevate Gaston County's arts community. Each session provides a creative activity, space for dialogue, and opportunities to build relationships with fellow artists.

Each Amplify Meetup offers a moment to pause and reconnect - with your practice, your peers, and yourself. Whether you're inspired by a particular place, carrying memories into your work, or simply curious about the stories that shape other artists, this gathering offers space to reflect, make, and connect. We welcome artists & creatives of any practice - visual, performing, literary, and more!
